Former wrestler Mame Diambane passed away this Friday at Foundiougne Hospital after a long illness. Under the name Mame Ndieumbane Diom, the former Serer champion wrote one of the finest pages of the Serere stable. This exceptional wrestler, recognized as one of the best of his generation, was also co-founder of the Aldiouma Diouf wrestling school. He later founded his own wrestling school, which bears his name and continues to train young talents. During his career, Mame Ndieumbane defeated legendary champions of the arena, such as the late Mor Nguer, the late Mor Faddam, the late Toubabou Dior, and the late Alioune Seye. His strength, determination, and expertise allowed him to establish himself as a leader in the world of Senegalese wrestling. He was also a member of the national traditional wrestling team, contributing to the sport’s influence at the national level. Mame Ndieumbane Diom’s burial will take place in the commune of Mbam, where his family, friends, and many wrestling figures will pay their last respects.
