Transparency and accountability in sports journalism are essential for credible and high-quality media coverage. In this context, a two-day training program on financial reporting and budget analysis has commenced in Gambia, bringing together 20 sports journalists.
An Initiative for More Rigorous Sports Journalism
This training, organized by the Sports Journalists’ Association of The Gambia (SJAG) and sponsored by the Ministry of Youth and Sports (@MOYSTheGambia), aims to strengthen the skills of professionals in the field. Understanding financial management and budgets is crucial for ensuring a more in-depth and factual coverage of the sports industry.
A Commitment to Transparency
This initiative is part of a broader effort to promote a better understanding of sports finance, enabling journalists to report with greater accuracy and objectivity. By mastering these technical aspects, they will be able to analyze and communicate financial issues surrounding sports in Gambia and beyond more effectively.
By supporting such training programs, the ministry and industry stakeholders demonstrate their commitment to professionalizing sports journalism and ensuring that the public receives reliable and transparent information.
Towards More In-Depth Media Coverage
With this initiative, participating journalists will gain essential tools to improve their approach to financial and budget reporting. This will not only enhance their skills but also elevate the standards of sports journalism in the country.
