The members of parliament will return to the National Assembly on April 2 to consider the proposal by their majority colleague, Amadou Ba, to partially repeal the amnesty law. According to Vox Pop, President Bassirou Diomaye Faye gave a favorable opinion on this bill without comment.
The technical committee meeting to review the bill is scheduled for March 21, according to Malick Ndiaye, President of the National Assembly.
MP Amadou Ba, who initiated the bill, clarified "the original legislator's intention" and "the text's scope of application."
The legislator's inten
tion was therefore never to allow common law offenses, unrelated to political motivation, to go unpunished.
The amnesty law did not intend to exclude victims' rights from its scope. In response to Amadou Ba's proposal, Thierno Alassane Sall declared that Pastef wants to protect its activists and hand over the others.
